Hi everyone! We are looking to relocate to Pittsburgh to start a business and I have found the perfect home for us and it is in Brentwood, an area I know nothing about. I have researched the area and we had been leaning toward Squirrel Hill but that house came up in my search so I was hoping you could tell me more about the town of Brentwood! What school district is it in and is it a good one? Is it a family friendly area? What is the economy like there?
Thanks!

Brentwood is your typical middle class suburb; nothing special about it and nothing bad about it. You will like it. Where exactly are you going to have your business?

Thanks! The business is an eco-friendly cleaning service, it is actually a franchise we are looking to purchase that is doing very well but since this type of service is more of a splurge than a necessity, we would like to be based in a more well to do area. The only problem with that is that we ourselves are not well to do LOL! And we want to be based out of our home, so hopefully the area is within a good range of middle to upper-middle class areas.

The house is on Shadyway Dr. Can anyone tell me if that is in a good area of Brentwood? I read on here that there is a distinct bad side of town...

The general rule of thumb is that the closer you get to Carrick, the worse it gets. I live in Carrick, so I agree with this notion. As long as you're not near the border you'll be fine!

Brentwood is like West Mifflin's Bel-Air

Most of your customers will probably be in Squirrel Hill/Shadyside/east end area. You may want to look at living in Greenfield as it is significantly less expensive than Squirrel Hill but still will be close to your customer base.

Brentwood is a nice town, nice school district. close or easy access to everywhere... depending on the time of the day. At rush hour, route 51 traffic can be heavy. Nice affordable suburb of the city.

Little heads up about Brentwood. Even though it is a nice residential area, it's not very well known for being a "green" area as opposed to the East End. Not saying people there wouldn't welcome organic strores, businesses and such.
