I assume they needed to have a study before anything could actually occur, but they spent over $1 million on this?

Of course a rapid bus service between the downtown business district and Oakland, the student and medical mecca of Pittsburgh, would be great for both areas as well as the Hill corridor between them.

What's to study

Make a reverse bus lane using the Right hand side of 5th Av Outbound and place station/stops @ 6th Av, Washington, Pride, Dinwiddie, Jumonville, Birmingham Bridge, Craft, so on and so on...

Make the 71s stay on 5th, and keep the 61s going up Forbes.

I never thought of that. Why do they have a bus lane in Oakland going outbound, but not one inbound???

That's really too many stops for a rapid bus. We're talking about 3 miles here, a single stop downtown and a single stop in Oakland would be fine, if you need the other stops, take a regular bus.

The area where Childrens Hospital used to be in Oakland is well suited for this purpose. It is centrally located within Oakland and has a lot of room for waiting, or even installing ticket vending machines. It would be great if they could even build a small sheltered station, just enough to hold some bus schedules, vending machines, and protect people from the elements -- maybe even have a live PAT person to help people figure out routes and pricing.

This is the 21st century, the age where people aren't live anymore. They can't even have anyone monitor thier website's blog.

They still haven't even figured out how to post schedules at bus stops, so let's crawl before we learn to walk.

They haven't even changed a lot of the bus stop signs yet with the new route numbers.
