Hi, I hope you may have some input for me.
I'm conducting some career training over the next few months and need to find a location to conduct my program.
My trainees are going to be staying at one of the Marriott properties on Park Lane in Coraopolis and I really want to keep the trip from the hotel to the training site as short as possible.
I'm not sure if I'm ready for a long-term lease agreement, but really need to lock down a site for three months for now.
What is the area like over there? And do you have any ideas, considering my trainees will be staying for a number of weeks, will not have vehicles, and I want them to be as comfortable as possible.
I am also considering just renting office space and arranging it to fit my needs. Still, I'd very much appreciate any input.
There is a new Residents Inn that's supposed to be opening any day now in Monroeville, but they're not taking bookings yet. I thought that might be an even better location considering it is a brand new hotel, and perhaps the surrounding area might have more to offer.

Thanks for any input.

Rod

Monroeville is too far from the airport, plus you would have to drive thru the tunnels.
Moon or Robinson Twp are much better.
There is an office building:
3000 McClaren Rd, Coraopolis, PA 15108. One French(?) company rents 1/3 of that building.

Thanks for bumping this, wanted to offer some info but forgot about it. I didn't really know where to go with training space because that sounded too vague. How much space? What kind of space? Not a lot to go on. There are certainly various office park type buildings out there which could have some empty space. Also empty retail space here and there.

My main though though was what a crappy place to be for weeks without a car. I suppose if people are flying in from out of town the airport area can make some sense, but it's really spread out. If they're going to need to fend for themselves for food, it will be difficult. Although I suppose if it's at the Residence Inn, they could make a food run to Walmart or Giant Eagle then be able to cook in the unit. But from there it's, well, not impossible to walk to anything but there are no sidewalks and it's kind of far. The Springhill Suites is closer to stuff but you don't get as much of a kitchen.

I don't know what all you have planned, obviously, but it sounds pretty bad from where I'm sitting based on what you've said. For people to have a better experience with no car they should be in the city methinks. Otherwise it's just airport, hotel, training, hotel, training, nothing but generic burbs day and night. For a couple days? Fine. For weeks? Ugh.

Sorry to be harsh about it, but that's what I see. I hope I'm misunderstanding what you're doing.

There are plenty of office buildings downtown that advertise on craigslist. Most of them offer short-term rentals and have conference rooms too. I saw one on liberty/5th across from the Highmark Building. And another building a little bit farther down on 5th, towards Smithfield I think. Most of these hotels near the airport have free shuttles to downtown also. I think that might be an option you should check out.

Default Thanks

Thank you for all of your excellent input. I agree about the airport area not being ideal and we have opted for a more central location instead. I've changed the lodging from the previous property to hotels in the Oakland/East Liberty areas and am now looking for space somewhere in the Centre/Baum/Negley area. If I don't find anything I suppose we'll use one of the downtown short-term facilities.
In case you have any other ideas, we're looking for from 500 to 700 sf of space we can set up five or six computer workstations in for training purposes. With the move to more centralized digs, we should be able to give guests a more enjoyable visit and more amenities and services to walk and take buses to.

Thanks again for your great input.
