Must they always walk it right to the edge? What about this deal (assuming it flies) had to been done in the last minute? If it's just sheer brinksmanship, Danny, Bland and McMahon really ought to be ashamed of themselves - it's no way to run a railroad (or a bus service).

In theory, there was a possibility the state would restore its funding (fat chance, but still).

Anyway, hopefully this all gets done. But I suspect it as most buys us another year, and hopefully this issue doesn't get completely lost with all the other insanity going on at the state level.

I realize that its not the PAT driver's to blame, but if you're a bus driver and you make 20% more than a nurse, there is something seriously wrong.

What is with everyone's notion that a Bus Driver is only suppose to make 5.15 or 8.00 an hr.....

Again THE PROBLEM IS NOT CURRENT EMPLOYEE WAGES....The PROBLEM IS LEGACY COSTS in HEALTHCARE and PENSIONS that RETIRED EMPLOYEE ARE GETTING.

The fact that the current employees were willing to give up 10% and stop wage increases for the next year is noble and commendable when Bland went on record saying that they're not the Port Authority problem....

The options that snake Onorato had on the table, was all but insulting...and I will say it again NO ONE CARE ABOUT THE FOLKS!

PAT needs to be able to restructure their legacy cost, they need to be able to file bankruptcy or something to be able to renegotiate their contract....Its the retiree's that have too good!

Onorato, the state gov't, Bland and McMahon are all to blame with thier game playing. None of them care that they work for US.

Of course Dannyboy could care less because he's not seeking re-election. Glad he lost the governor's race.

My boyfriend is one of the drivers who will be laid off on Sunday. He makes (or should I now say made) 30K a year. He does get tired of people telling him that he makes too much money. Most make a working or middle class wage. The notion that every driver is making 80K a year is pretty ridiculous. Very few have the seniority and overtime to get that. The legacy costs are the killer.

You prefer the guy who is advocating permanently slashing state funding for public transit?

Onorato is not my favorite guy, but at least he has tried to find funding sources for public transit.

Brian you talking apples and oranges....State vs Local.....Onorato from what family/friends have told me and what I've read on line has done NOTHING hasn't come out and said anything to the public....until that 11th hr Union Busting plan he tried to sneak under the table.

The man is a Snake beyond proportions...Like Raubre said he's not seeking re-election so he couldn't care less and it shows loud and clear.

I wasn't defending Onorato's actions in this specific instance (although as I understand it, his proposals did include additional funding from the County). I was instead responding to the idea we are better off with Corbett as governor--that is letting Corbett off the hook for being radically anti-public-transit. When it comes to that issue, Onorato was definitely the lesser of two evils, and we are going to suffer in many areas because the greater evil won the election.
