Hi,

I will be starting a new job in Canonsburg, PA and need to find an apartment near there. Ive searched but literally found like 3 apartments. Im looking for an apartment complex, priced anywhere from 600-759/month. I have a cat as well. I have been looking in Washington, Canonsburg, and Bridgeville. Really only places i know that are around their, of course their are more i'm sure.

I have an appointment on Saturday for a place in South Park which from Mapquest is about 30 minutes away, which is as far as i'm willing to move. If anyone has any info on the area/demographic and decent places to move to it would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to move in asap as i'd like to get settled. I live a decent bit away now in Harrisburg but on sat. I will be driving around looking for apartment complexes and just need some general direction where to start.

Thank you

What are you looking for in an apartment? Close to nightlife and the city? Close to young people? Or are you looking for something rural?

Hi gameguy,

Right now I'm up for anything, my girlfriend lives in Greensburg and she wont be moving out right away so I would be commuting there on the weekends to do night stuff, and as far as demographic young or old dosent matter.

Thanks

There is a nice apartment complex, the only one in the township I believe, on Painters Run Road in Upper St. Clair, right next to the Mt. Lebanon border.
You can access I-79 South relatively easily from there, at the Kirwan Heights interchange; left down Painters Run Rd., right on Bower Hill Rd., left onto Vanadium Rd., right onto Rt. 50, & quick left onto I-79. I would guess about half an hour or so to Southpointe in rush hour traffic.

Check out South Strabane Township then. It's near Washington, and it's developed into somewhat of a commercial nexus, so living there would mean that you're near stuff. It's also fairly newly-developed, so you should be able to find an apartment with current amenities. It's located near the junction of I-70 and I-79. Southpointe would be about 10 miles via I-79 north, and Greensburg would be about 45 miles via I-70 east and U.S. 119 north. I know that 45 miles might sound a bit long, but it's a direct, high-speed route all the way.

I'd personally recommend South Strabane over South Park, because east-west mobility across Pittsburgh's southern suburbs is hindered. Most major roads in that area take the path of least resistance, so you wouldn't be able to find a convenient path due east to Greensburg or due west to Southpointe. It might be slightly closer to Greensburg from South Park, but it'd still be about 30 miles via PA 51 south, I-70 east and U.S. 119 north. Conversely, there is no high-speed route west to Southpointe. You'd have to take a lot of secondary roads, and maybe even some residential streets, just to get to I-79, and the commute would take closer to 30 minutes. There's also not as much commercial development in South Park as there is in South Strabane.

There is a complex called Springhouse Park that is in Bridgeville that I see advertised on Craigslist fairly frequently. I'm not sure what their pet situation is though.

Anything in Mt Lebanon might also be an option. I had a friend who used to commute down to Canonsburg daily and I believe her commute was around 25 minutes.
