I've always liked the West End Overlook myself for the point-on view. But I always wanted to check out that cemetery on the north side that gallacus is citing. I never knew what it was called but I figured I could pick my way over there sometime. I have always noticed that bit of the cemetery from downtown.

The view from my bed...the rooftops of the War Street rowhouses, followed by the tree tops in West Park, and the Downtown skyline in the background. Kind of feels like you're in a tree house.

I'm always happy as a pig in its own excrement when I'm walking Downtown from Polish Hill and get my first glimpses of the skyline from the 28th Street Bridge. She's a pretty city!

The views from the North Side are the best. You get a solid wall of tall buildings that makes Pittsburgh look like a much larger city.

I agree the views from the Three Sisters are great, particularly if you are into architecture. I walk across them a lot, and I pretty much always pause for a while to look at Downtown. I also like the view from the Smithfield Bridge--it gets overshadowed by the Mt. Washington view, but again it is cool to have Downtown out in front of you but much closer. I also like the views from within any of the taller buildings Downtown, looking out and down, for much the same reason.

The red topped building right below that Gates building sign... what is that? It was the building I was focused on as it was really special if you look at it closer. That is close to the angle I love, if you were closer.

I think it may be some dumpy apartment building with a 7-11 on the ground floor but I am not positive.

The building with the red dome is the Keenan Building, from around 1907, I think. Check out this. And this. And this.

I like the view from the top of St. Michael's Street or St. Thomas Street around the SS Slopes.
