Seriously, no one returns our calls. I need blinds on my windows, maybe curtains would be nice.
We moved here in January got kicked out of our apartment in February (building was sold). So I just bought a house in March (Mt. Washington). Now having a difficult time locating products and services required for the new house. I hope its just because I don't know where to go and not for lack of availability. Guess it takes time to get to know your way around.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

How DIY do you want to be? I mean, I'm sure a lot of such things are purchased at Lowe's and Home Depot. If that's not what you're looking for, there are several I think that can come out to your house. I just saw a print ad for this Pittsburgh Blinds Co but I can't vouch for them at all: BLINDS, SHADES AND WINDOW TREATMENTS PITTSBURGH, PA Budget Blinds is another one I hear of all the time but can't vouch for.

I'm still getting by with the blinds that were here with the house (except for the one on the sliding door, which I replaced), and I'll probably change them out myself at some point. Maybe someone else has a direct experience. Same for any other home service, go ahead and ask here, someone may know a good suggestion. Ask people at work, neighbors, etc. as well if you have interactions with them.

If you have a decent budget, I would go with Lachina Drapery and Blinds in East Liberty / Friendship.

If you are the DIY type, go to home depot with your exact window measurements. They will cut all instore widow blinds on the spot. You will save hundreds if not thousands.

Remember to measure the inside of the window. This will allow for a custom fit. I have stainless steel finished blinds in my kitchen and they are amazing.

Drapery, Curtains, Valances

i got my curtains from here. took like 6 weeks but are very nice
i have radiators in my house so i needed 40 inch curtains and all the places i lookes have 60' 72' or 80'
so i had to either have them cut at the cleaners or have custom made.
or if you have an grandma that can sew and hem that would be great

once upon a time there were plenty of places in theh burgh that did that but now there is none. i called about 20 places in the phonebook and either were not interested or didnt understand that i DO NOT want 60+ inch curtains. whats funny is most of the houses in pgh have radiator heat and guess what most of the radiators are below the window

Lachina Draperies fixed me up with custom treatments on two huge windows. They came to the house to measure, made them and installed them. Not cheap, but they still look great after ten years. I can handle installation on small windows, but for a really nice job you need professionals.

Thanks to all! I will pursue these leads (Budget Blinds won't return calls). Next I I'll concentrate on concrete work and fencing.

I bought all of my blinds online. I have not dealt with drapery issues here.
