I live near a 376 on-ramp and a tow truck, for the last month or so, has taken the liberty of parking on my street outside my house, presumably waiting for calls. He is often there every day, all day. My Wife is concerned because a) This guy knows when we leave the house and b) he can and does frequently look in our windows while sitting in his truck.

This can't be legal, right? This is a neighborhood street he is sitting at. We've called the cops a couple times and they have asked him to leave, but he is right back the very next day. What can I do? Do I have any recourse?

Have you called the tow truck company to complain to the owner?
And keep on calling the cops. It creates a record.

We have called the towing company; they literally laughed at us.

How unprofessional! Does your street have permit parking, or is it free public parking with no restrictions? If it is limited parking, like 2 hours or something, maybe you can convince the police/parking authority to ticket him?

You say he is looking in your window, maybe you could ask the police to pursue it as a "peeping tom" case rather than a parking issue?

It's a public street. What gives you the right to say who can park on it and who can't?

My friend owns a very large tow truck company. He'd laugh at you too. He probably did since his business is in your part of town.

Let me assure, they're making a lot of money in the towing business. They're not going to break into your house and steal from you. LOL I'll bet they make more than you do! Do you know that they not only get paid for the tow but also get paid a percentage of the repair work? It doesn't matter what shop you have it towed to, chances are the towing company has a contract with the shop for a commission. They might look like dirty low lifes to you but they truly are earning a great living.

The police only asked him to leave in a friendly manner. Part of being in the towing business is getting along with the police. And the police need them so they can clear accidents from the highway and keep traffic flowing. They have a very close working relationship.

But most importantly, It's totally legal. It's a public street. He's not even parking there. He is inside his vehicle.

You're in a losing situation here. You're the one who bought a house near a highway ramp. Put some curtains up on your windows for goodness sake.

The more you complain, the more likely they'll purposely park in front of your house. LOL
