You have nothing to worry about. This is Pittsburgh, you will be catching beer cans in a few weeks after fill up. No worries. Things will be back to normal in no time.

Drove through North Park the other day. The water isn't completely filled, but it's almost there.

Looks good---except for the big pieces of wood sticking out of the water. Apparently they are 'fish habitats."

Someone could get seriously hurt on the fanned out ones when walking or swimming in the lake. I know there is no walking or swimming permitted but there are always idiots.

Here are pictures of them during the construction phase: Welcome to the Pittsburgh District

Here's a picture of a fanned out type (called a "star cluster"?) prior to the lake being filled with water which can't be seen now.

Apparently there are 240 fish habitats in the lake. Here's an article:

North Park Lake work nears completion

(Some of the vertical ones stick out way past the water surface even when the lack is filled to the max.)

Imagine how many fishing lures will be caught on those things. Countless.

It's good to have a park opening at this time of year when the weather's nice.

I'm waiting for the first lawsuit when someone on a kayak capsizes on top of one. No doubt another Army Corp of Engineers invention.

Oh my, that isn't a nice thought, but you are right, it could happen. Doesn't look like a very friendly design.

Isn't the idea that those will either be well below water line or very visible above it? I get the cynicism but not sure it's deserved in this case. Guess we'll see.

They are very close to the surface of the lake, even when it will be full.

I saw this thread but hadn't read it. The other day, I happened to be in the area and went through the park. I wondered what all those wooden things were, sticking up out of the water. If the water level is at normal now, you'd have to be a pretty dumb kayaker to hit one...
