Apparently Westinghouse had no problem moving their offices to Cranberry after 40 years in Monroeville.

I think Westinghouse was always headquartered in the suburbs, though, wasn't it? I remember seeing historic markers when I lived in Forest Hills related to Westinghouse's facilities there. So it's not like Westinghouse moved out of the city to Cranberry. They moved from the eastern suburbs, right?

Sounds to me like they must already have their liquor license in place, but are not using it at the moment being they are not serving yet, but still have to follow the LCB rules. I know you have to have a certain sticker to operate on Sunday with certain class licenses and a major percentage of the sales have to be food only.

At least locating in the city expands your possibilities to draw from the greatest talent pool possible.

As for me I'll continue to sell fruit and live below the poverty line as I pass up opportunity after opportunity in the suburbs to avoid miserable commutes.
Pittsburgh commutes aren't that bad and I think it's easier and a lot faster driving in the suburbs than it is in the city. This is from someone who lives in the city.

This is debatable. Education starts in the elementary then middle then high schools. If you were to compare test scores of the city of Pittsburgh to... USC, Mt. Lebo,, NA, FC or many others, you will find the talent pull isn't in the city, it is in the suburbs. Lots of times people grow up in... lets use NA for an example and they want to stay there because they liked it. Therefore, I have to question if the greatest talent pull is really in the city. I suspect it might not be. Okay, you can argue CMU is in the city, but most of those kids stay for their term and leave.

Talent pull is bs.

This forum is all about the city and how people feel all should live there. In all honesty the city has lots of negatives. Way more crime, litter, blight and way higher taxes for those making income. Don't think all is perfect in Pittsburgh. It isn't. You and I may like it very much, but there are reasons for burbs. Not everyone wants to deal with the crime, litter and so much poverty. There are many parts of Pittsburgh that is a total dump. Are there many parts of North Allegheny School District that are dumps? Peters? USC? Mt. Lebo? Not everyone wants to be around that. It doesn't bother me much, but for many it isn't their cup of tea. Surely you can understand that?

Indeed. Most people prefer the suburbs. Look at the numbers in the city compared to the burbs. Suburbs are the heart and sole of this region. Not true everywhere, but in Pittsburgh the burbs are king.

I don't believe that "in Pittsburgh, the suburbs are king." Anybody who thinks that has never been to places like Detroit or Toledo, where the suburbs truly are king and the cities are an afterthought and completely forgotten about. In Pittsburgh, the city itself is still a desirable and relevant place! Downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland are the true economic engines of the area, and the suburbs come in second to that. Also, there aren't many suburbs that can compare to the overall elegance and affluence of Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, and Shadyside.
