Hi,
We recently moved to Pittsburgh, so this would be our first independence day in the city. I was wondering if you could kindly point out what goes around, like where is the best places to go for the festivals, and the fireworks? how is the parking around these areas? is there any place specific for kids activities? I have 2 toddlers, and hope to find something for them as well.
I would really appreciate any information. We are hoping to get into the fun stuff, and don't miss the day just wondering around the wrong places.
Thanks.

You might consider the Big Butler Fair.

The Regatta has a big kid's zone, which was a hit with our four-year-old last year.

I would go to the Regatta as Brian suggested downtown, or if you want something smaller, but good Springdale has always made a very big deal about the 4th of July. If you go to Springdale, grab a custard at Glenns.

Excellent suggestion h_curtis (especially the Glen's). But with young kids head to the Big Butler Fair, usually have a petting zoo for kids and the hustle and bustle of on of the last BIG carnivals. At night (Fireworks night), If you can head to the point for the festivities, it can get over crowded but well worth it.

If you want smaller scale, almost all townships have their own celebrations and fireworks.

Ask your neigbhors where the best ones are in your area because I have no idea if you live North, South, East or West.

For example, I wouldn't drive to Springdale if you live in the South Hills.

Brentwood has a parade every year preceded by a 5K (?) run.
