We put an offer in on a house in Mt. Lebanon today. It's old (1924), needs a lot of work, and we want to know how deep we're getting in precisely!

Can anyone recommend an inspector that knows their stuff on old houses? I leave town on Sunday, so if we get under contract I'm hoping to line them up before we leave on Friday or Saturday. If that doesn't work, my IL's can go do it, but I'd like to be there myself if possible.

Thanks to everyone who's helped so far w/ our search - it was a long process but we feel good about the result!

A guy that I used this year and who is so thorough he will tell you not only about the existing problems but about the what could happen in the future. He really knows his stuff. My boyfriend who is so picky was so impressed by him.
His emai address is this pittsburghpropertyinspections@comcast.net

I used Rodney Harkness when I bought my 19th Century house.

I thought he was pretty thorough and knowledgable, and so did a friend I recommended him to who was buying a home on the hill.

You can check out his website, Rodney Harkness
