If you mean Walnut and Mosites, then yes - mainly because they do large scale developments and the zoning in East Liberty is UNC and Garfield is LNC. Also, there's more space in East Liberty for large developments.

Penn in Garfield will end up being more like Butler Street in the next decade - with a good mix of small shops.

I am happy to say that I don't know what the people who watch the local news would want to hear about. Isn't it mostly only senior citizens anyway? They already ***** about grocery store prices way too often.

Aren't there commercials that show people taking their GE receipts to Wal-Mart and buying the same things and then finding out how much they saved?

Also, I am not sure it takes a news broadcast to tell you or a numbers person to know that if you want to save money on groceries, shop discount. I am also not all that sure that people don't know that there are cheaper options out there, but choose to shop at GE anyway because they like it.

People routinely buy more expensive groceries due to perceived higher quality. It's part of the whole appeal of shopping somewhere like Whole Foods. Or Market District over a regular old dirty bird, for that matter. You're making a statement about your economic class by way of your consumption (e.g., only poor people shop at scuzzy Shop 'n Saves, I can afford "better.")

I am always shocked by the cost of cheese at Giant Eagle. One of my favorites, St. Andre, costs $21.99/lb. there. It's $9.99 at both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. Parmigiano-Reggiano is currently $17.99/lb. at Market District--down, I think temporarily, from $19.99/lb. It costs $13.99/lb. at Penn Mac. Jarlsberg is more expensive at GE too, but I haven't bought any in a long time, so I'm not familiar with the current price differential.

I tend to end up shopping where I buy my cheese.

I've also been shopping at Aldi, where I haven't bought cheese yet. But raspberries were $1.69 last week.
