I was walking my dogs around 11:40pm last night in USC towards the north. The sky flashed a bright green color towards the north (looked like it was coming from the south hills village area) for about a half a second. I waited, and heard no noise. It almost looked like it would have been the flash from a large firework display. About 10 seconds later I saw another flash that appeared to be more north and whiter this time, again there was no noise.

Did anyone else see this? I wonder if it could have been northern lights? It was very brief and brighter than what I would think northern lights would be.

I had nothing to drink last night

Marcellus shale stuff going on. Nothing to see there, just relax and not worry. Some landowner is making money and we are all broke.

As cool as it would be, Northern Lights don't happen this far south. I'm going with the Batman theory.

While its unlikely because of the rarity, they can be occassionally be seen this far south (and further south as well).

I was wondering if it could have been something they were doing for the Batman movie.

Um, no, if something is a rare occurence that does not mean it doesn't occur it means that it happens on occassion.
