I'm wondering - how is the cell phone coverage in this area of the country?

Who do you have, who do you wish you had?

I've got Verizon - which has been great just about everywhere I've travelled in the USA, but boy it is expensive.

I hear ATT sucks and from what I've seen with friends who have iPhones on ATT, it does suck. Places they do not get reception, I get great reception on a Samsung phone on Verizon network.

I am strongly considering pay as you go plan from Virgin which uses Sprint network...Sprint any good? What is everyone's experience?

Thank you

I have AT&T and never have a problem with service in the Pittsburgh area. I think it really depends on what you consider good service to be. 5 bars/full coverage all of the time? No dropped calls? I've never had a dropped call around here.

We have Verizon and love them... I don't think they are expensive at all.

We have 2 smart phones w/ data plans, 3 regular phones, all with unlimited text and pix, and more minutes than we use for $184. That's with all the taxes and fees.
Averages to less than $37 per phone.

People I know who try AT&T ditch it as soon as they can....

FWIW I've had AT&T for about 5 years (since it was still Cingular) and it's been fine for me. It works with my iPhone, all I care about (and actually that's a work phone so not much choice).

Keep in mind I don't drive around with my phone glued to my face like so many people do. That may be why I don't notice every little tiny dead spot.

I have At&T also and it is fine. As was mentioned maybe those who talk on the phone 24 hours a day and have had different providers know the difference. If you want At & T, go for it.

In the Greensburg area, the coverage is generally excellent although there has been some coverage issues in very isolated parts of the West Point area since part of it lies down in a valley.

I have never had any problems with AT&T wireless in the Greensburg area. If you are considering getting an iPhone, which I highly recommend, you might want to wait a bit for the iPhone 5 release. I don't think that there is a firm release date, but it is expected to launch in September.

Yeah, anyone wanting an iPhone would be wise to wait a few weeks or so if you can help it.
