My favorite part of this forum is gone and I miss it. I always wondered why it wasn't more popular, Pittsburgh is very unique and vastly different neighborhoods. I would like to see people post pictures of your neighborhoods, I know everyone here loves their neighborhoods so get some pictures of a summer evening, fall foliage or maybe snowfall after a winter storm!

I agree. Most cities of Pittsburgh's status on this site have great picture threads- hell, pathetic cities on this site have great picture threads. I am a huge architecture/urban junkie and love to start exploring an area at least in pictures of cities and areas that I find interesting and beautiful and Pittsburgh is definitely high on that list as cities I admire. I would like to find some more pictures of the area and neighborhoods that I am reading about here. You are lucky to have alleghenyangel as such a great historic ambassador to your city- you need more like him to show off your great city.

Any other sites you can direct us that are interested in exploring Pittsburgh neighborhoods in pictures?

Thanks

Edit: Oops, now noting the Burghs/Newcomers thread has some nice info and pics. I'll start exploring more there

I think the thread just got de-stickified and is lurking somewhere around page 10-20 by now. I'll see if I can find it and bump it for you. I've heard the admin likes each forums to have no more than 2 sticky threads, so that may be why the sticky was removed.

I posted some of my recent photos to Pittsburgh in that thread. I come to find most people on this forum don't take appreciation in somebody taking the time to share their photographs by hosting them on pbase then linking them to this site. A lot of photos on City-data that are shared are from people posting other photographer's photos found on the net with no what-so-ever credit to them. I am amateur photographer, but it is a big hobby of mine. I thought that posting images would be appreciated, but found out it wasnt or I would have posted many more. Maybe I just suck at it though.

Well I couldn't find the exact thread that used to be the sticky. Maybe it got merged? There are a few other photo tour threads with shots taken around the city, though. If you do a search with the word "photo" you'll find 3-4 of them.

Hopefully this thread will help everyone realize that your posted photos are seen and appreciated even if there isn't a reply.

I found this some time back

PittsburghSkyline.com - Original Photographs from the Great City of Pittsburgh by Matt Robinson

Some of the best pics of Pittsburgh I've found.

BTW...I really enjoy reading this forum. It's certainly one of the most lively and interesting on city-data. I check it out almost every day.

Matt Robinson is a beast. He does the backdrops used on the local news.

He's a regular on TOS.

Here are some original shots taken by me over the last 7-8 years.
