Well, there's nothing cooler than denying that you're cool. All the cool kids hate hipsters these days.

I'm not big on labeling other people. I try to get along with everybody. Whether you like Arcade Fire, Skynyrd or Maiden.

So do I. My main issue is that WDVE will play the same songs over and over again. I just wish tehy would add some newer stuff and play lesser heard classics.

Look at Sabbath. They have been around for over 40 years and WDVE can only play the same five songs on the station? Sad.

WDVE can get away with playing My Morning Jacket, Drive By Truckers, KOL, Gov't. Mule every now and then. They all have a classic rock sound to them.

Definitely. I don't like Skynyrd enough to want to listen to DVE.

The other stations are just as bad, though. The X seems to think that there are only about five bands.

That station is still stuck in the 90s.

I'll stick with WYEP and my iPod though.

At this point, I think that most people have more songs on their ipod or smart phone than 'DVE has in their entire music library

Maybe that's the key.....myself & most of the people I am friends with rarely listen to the actual radio for music, I just plug in my iPod. But (& this is not meant to be a slander against older people), older people will be less likely to have a large digital music collection & thus more likely to listen to the radio. Older music would most likely be their preference, thus stations are playing mainly what their audience wants to hear.

Anyone feel free to poke holes in this theory as I have nothing to back it up other then something that popped into my head reading the above post.

The whole concept of radio for music is stuck in the 90s! I just listen to Pandora for music. I do use the radio to listen to NPR sometimes.

DVE doesn't change because so many people still listen to it. It has the highest ratings around.

Well, I can't get Pandora in my car yet (and can't use iPod or whatnot in there either), so these days I'll just listen to KDKA drivetime, YEP, or the baseball game.

But yeah, WDVE has no reason to change.
