They could do like in the Premier League - the bottom 2 teams get relegated out of the league each season

Yeah, but Green Bay can compete in an otherwise miniscule market.

But the name of the game is to make money, and I believe the Pirates owners are doing just that. (In part thanks to sweetheart deals and massive taxpayer financing). They aren't going anywhwere. That's the sports biz today.

They're the only NFL team in Wisconsin. They are actually a kind of "proxy" Milwaukee team.

But Milwaukee is over 110 miles away from Green Bay. I'd be like putting a football team in Erie and calling it Pittsburgh's proxy team.

I mean...whose idea was it to put a team in Green Bay of all places? Seriously, it'd be like giving Erie its own NFL franchise over Cleveland and Pittsburgh. In someways, that'd make more sense as it would be proxies to two cities.

The NFL is set up completely differently from MLB. NFL has a salary cap, whereas in baseball only the financial elites in the largest media markets can afford to compete year in, year out.

I don't know the history, but I'm pretty sure their attendance is great, and most of the people in WI live in the Milwaukee area. These days, 110 miles can be driven in about two hours, less considering the way some of those Wisconsinites drive! (J/K)

It's not just city people who go to games either.

Detroit, for example, people drive in from every where hours around.

I'm sure half of Wisconsin are trying to see one of the, I don't know, 8 home games a year that are played in Green Bay?

A better analogy might be Penn State. But it seems to make more sense to locate NFL football teams AT centers of population so fewer people drive long distances.

The Packers are an old team, and they have great attendance. What's to argue about?
