Every time someone says "Ver - sales" I want to punch them in the mouth until they say it properly.

I cringe when I listen to WAMO-100's one positioning statement in which this one woman (Keira?) says she's from 'Roeville. Are people getting THAT lazy that they've now abbreviated "Monroeville" to just simply "Roeville?"

I actually like that aspect. Bastardized as it is, it gives a distinct area take on the locale. Almost Pittsburgheeseish. Besides, you throw in a French name amongst all those Scotch-Irish Appalachian immigrants, what do you expect? We pronounce Duquesne correctly....isn't that enough?

That's because it's easier to pronounce it the "right" way than to try to pronounce it phonetically -- du-kwez-nee? I'm just surprised the spelling wasn't Anglicized. Where I grew up there was an audio-visual equipment manufacturer called DuKane.

A distinctly wrong take.
