Right now there are a couple of little girls running around playing in the snow in my neighborhood. They are having a blast. What a shame so many adults get old and so insecure about snow. What happens to people? Guess just get old and can't deal with the beauty of snow. It is so much brighter and you can ski! Those who ski, which I don't think anyone on here does, know what I am talking about. It changes your entire winter. You end up loving ski season. I feel for the miserable people, which seems to be about 90% of the Pittsburgh population. If you only knew what you are missing. The beauty. The acoustic qualities and the brightness of snow. All anyone sees it seems is danger and insecurities.

I find that winter is best enjoyed inside with a stack of books and a hot beverage. Nothing miserable about it.

Kids can afford to be carefree about most things. A blizzard can be majorly inconvenient for adults with real world responsibilities. Being annoyed because you can't get to work or handle other important tasks does not make one "miserable."

Who cares? The sun is still going to rise tomorrow. Leave yourself extra time if the weather is snowy and relax on the way in. That is your fault if you don't leave that extra time the 4-6 days a year snow might be an issue.

Shame so many old farts lose their sense of adventure and enjoyment in life, but I guess that happens to most. Glad I am not one of them, but I do get tired of hearing about everyone else's misery when I am totally enjoying myself! Life is great a single malt at a time!

That's easy to say when you don't work for an hourly wage and have an unsympathetic boss who couldn't give two spits that your street is unnavigable.

My experience with winter in Pittsburgh over the years has been that it gets cold, then a bit colder or warmer. It'll snow or rain, but sometimes it will freeze that and turn it into ice. Once or twice a winter we'll get a lot of snow.
This will pretty much continue until late March or mid-April when we suddenly get that damp earthy scent in the air which means Spring!
Amazingly, this happens every year.

Discussing weather trends or conditions is a fruitless endeavor. Whatever happens will happen and we deal.

I actually now do work for an hourly wage as part of my work. I have two jobs and need that to continue to live in our so-called inexpensive area. I am looking into another investment. Oh, my hourly job is another full time job, so you are preaching to the choir. I could walk to work though, but it would take an hour and a bit to do so. Cycling takes about 30 minutes. By car my work is about 8 minutes. My commute is up a hill, but that is through the zoo which isn't usually very bad.

I love driving in the snow, but hate being behind those who don't understand the concept. I practiced my circle track driving as a youngster and am well versed in snow being that my family actually lived in a real snow belt area. I do understand those that shouldn't drive in the snow. I wish they would just take a bus and leave the snow driving to the pros, but it seems they pound their chest anyway and drive like fools.

Why is it supposed to be partly sunny and mild for the next 5 days? I was under the impression that we would not be seeing the sun again until May18th?

What a beautiful day as so many are in the winter months. I went skiing yesterday and it was great of course. Today is a great day to go out and enjoy the Pittsburgh weather. So much for the "no sun" bs.

Today was just about perfect. I went for a long run in the city this morning and it was bizarre seeing so many people on the trail in shorts in January. And every car wash I passed had lines of cars out to the street. lol.

Tomorrow will be a bit colder, but still sunny! As will Monday and Tuesday. Looks like rain on Wed, so most native Pittsburghers will get weather amnesia on that day and return to complaining about how we never see the sun for 8 months straight.
