There really aren't any skyscrapers I don't dislike in Downtown. Besides 3 PNC, all of the high rises in Downtown were finished before I was born so I couldn't imagine them not being there.

Anyway, I kinda liked the old design for PNC Tower better, but that is just my personal aesthetic. This would still be a landmark addition to Downtown's eclectic collection.

Yep, looking at that picture, I can hear the Miami Vice theme song.

I kind of like the new rendering.

Or maybe Superman. Here's Metropolis from the show Smallville (2001-11).

See anything familiar?

yes they took buildings from various cities to make "Metropolis", including the Oxford Center in the far left.

I'd like to see how this building would look from various directions. Also, how it would look as part of the skyline.

They had some great angles in their original renderings--it would be cool if they did similar angles again.

I can tell you that no matter the exact height or design, it will be very prominent in the skyline, because it is filling a notable gap. Here is one of those original renderings, and it isn't actually blocking anything behind it either--the tallest building in that entire gap, river to river, is the Oliver Building, which is to the immediate right with the columns at top:

However the building looks, I will be happy to see the gap that I've always disliked in that part of the skyline filled in.

I have yet to see an angle from Mt. Washington with the updated design. It seems as if will be approx. the same height because that roof looks higher in the new renderings. When all is said and done, it will be almost as tall as One Oxford Centre, and it's apex just about the same as the Mt. Washington angle in the earlier renderings in June.http://www.wtae.com/slideshow/news/27993764/detail.html (broken link)

After the presentation, local architect Rob Pfaffmann urged PNC to consider preserving four buildings on Forbes as part of the redevelopment project. He hopes to meet with bank officials to further discuss the possibility.
"We're not doing this just to make trouble. What we want to do is have a better city," said Mr. Pfaffmann, who led an unsuccessful fight to save the Civic Arena.
PNC officials said they are exploring the potential for saving one facade at the corner of Wood and Forbes and incorporating it into the interior of the office tower, perhaps as part of a planned auditorium.
