Better leave a lot of space for transferring.....one missed connection and your whole itinerary is shot to hell and you will be pissed. Long Haul trips with multiple transfers take a lot patients and isn't worth the savings IMO. If it was Direct (No Transfers) I might be inclined.

Very good point BB. Sometimes the buses run late d/t traffic back ups somewhere. I wouldn't want to be stuck having to sit in a bus terminal for 12 hours until the next bus comes along!

Would they even let you get on another bus if that happened? I'm guessing if you miss one you have to buy a new ticket, but I'm not sure of the policy.

On their website all that is says is no refunds or credits given if you miss your bus. I don't know if that would still apply to a delay in arrival of your bus that would cause you to miss your connection.

And you"ll be getting off the bus at Union Station, my old stomping grounds! I used to go take my lunch break there when doing a full day of hard work protesting across the street at the Capitol. LOL!!!

[quote=DaBurgh;22028802]Megabus is running routes in the South now too. I can get from Atlanta to the Burgh for $3. ATL to Charlotte, Charlotte, to DC, DC to the Burgh, around 20 hrs total I think. [/quote
that sounds about right.

Interesting article about the growth of Megabus, from the Post-Gazette:

Megabus is accelerating growth for intercity buses

Last night was the first I had heard of Megabus. The fairs are so low. I can't wait to tell my kids that they can get to NYC for mere dollars.

I read on the website that you can only buy tickets online or at the main terminal in NYC. So missing a bus would be a big problem in any city that doesn't have cyber cafes. A friend or family member could buy the ticket online from home and give you the code via phone. All that's needed is some sort of code to give the bus driver when getting on.

That's weird. If you do a Pittsburgh/Niagra Falls trip, you can only get to Niagra Falls. There are no trips from Niagra Falls to Pittsburgh.
