I am due to have a baby this June and will be needing to look for local day cares but I've been hearing about how expensive the bigger centers are. Does anyone recommend a daycare in the Baldwin area or in Southside (where I work)? Also if you have a rough estimate of how much their infant costs and if they normally have open spaces. Thanks for any help!

I live in Baldwin too, we are going to use Munchkin University up on 51 in the Brentwood area. The rates seem reasonable.

I use Tender Care in Greentree and am very happy with them but also considered Creative Minds Learning Center (CMLC) in Mt Lebo. Yes the infact rooms fill up very quickly and there are waiting lists for 6 months to over a year for the good NAEYC and/or Keystone Stars programs. Get on a list now. I had a very hard time finding a place when I moved here from NJ last winter with my 5 month old. I had to go to Cheryl's Daycare in Robinson at first and was VERY disappointed with her. I had to pull my daughter out of there due to things I saw that I did not like at all (TVs on all the time, blankets in cribs, bottle propping, and my daughter was bitten twice, one in the face by a toddler who shouldn't even have been in the infact room- that was her last day there). I had to take her to a Tender Care branch in the north hills for a few months while I was on a waiting list for one of their south hills locations. Tender Care is $242 a week for full time infants. I believe CMLS was slightly less, I think around $212 a week. Good luck!
