I have no problem spending money on roads, but these people and their high speed rail. Every small city and town wants one, and it just isn't needed. Drive or fly. We aren't Europe, and never will be. If you like it so much there are planes leaving everyday. Go and enjoy your highspeed rail.

If you've ever used true highspeed rail it can be a real game changer. Get from downtown PGH to the heart of DC or Philly in an hr, who would ever choose to fly or drive so long as the cost wasn't astronomical? No driving to & from an airport, No dealings with TSA, yes please

It is obvious that every small city and town wouldn't have one as it wouldn't be feasible. You neglect that majority of the countries population lives in metro areas what would favor from it.

Also, stop with the " ya'll move to Europe if ya don't like my view, and git on out of here" rhetoric. It is stupid, and anything but a democracy.

Agree, it would be a game changer. Doubt we'll would see it any time in the future, though (unfortunately). Especially not high speed rail with tickets that aren't astronomical.

NO. If men were meant to fly, God would have given us wings.

Or something. Nothing but a horse and buggy for me, thanks.

Yes, it is unfortunate....the one pseudo high speed train here, Acela, is completely not worth it's cost & I would never consider using it at its current price point.

Highly unlikely you could ever do it in an hour. Its 200 miles to both locales and while the trains can reach those speeds its doubtful it could be done. You would still deal with the TSA. Think about it. You now have a train carrying over a 1000 pax maybe? It would be a huge target for a terrorist. Also would be much easier to hit.

Yes, it's just not worth it especially between NYC and Philly..when Keystones and Regional Trains take anywhere from 75 to 90 mins and the Acela is 70mins min without any delays along the line....Acela is going to be at least 80$ one way no discounts allowed 14-day advance trips, up to 200$ the day of.....Keystones and Regionals can be as little as 36$ one way if booked 14-days advanced.

+1 ! I'd rep you again if I could! And now that the U.S. is struggling with our own crumbling infrastructure, you'll still never see any of those countries that we helped rebuild try to come over and return the favor by at least helping us out.
