What looks to be a rather large fire is burning in Polish Hill down near the Bloomfield Bridge. My wife and I live across the river in Troy Hill and I just now noticed it as I was taking our dogs out. Can't tell for sure, but the flames look to be getting fairly high and more than one structure might be on fire.

Anyone know anything about it?

It's a three alarm fire on Melwood & Finland Street. Very bad conditions in the area of the fire.
A 5 car accident on Herron Avenue bridge too.

UPDATE-Building has now collapsed on the one side facing Melwood.

Apparently the fire was on Cargill Street here in Polish Hill. I was working at the time but saw KDKA's news coverage at 11 PM at my partner's home. Such a shame to have two high-profile fires here on the heels of one another just a week before Christmas.

What a shame. Did they say what caused it?

Heat, fuel, and oxygen, I would presume.

The first fire was caused by careless smoking (not a surprise given just about everyone I know in this city smokes). I'm not sure if they've ruled on a cause yet for the second fire.
