My wife and I are moving in Jan 2012 to Pittsburgh area. We were thinking for my wife to go and check places in the next week or two, but she doesn't drive.

Would it be prohibitively expensive to try and use taxies to go check a set of places? Would it even be possible; I know in many places taxies are not very reliable in terms of scheduling.

How about some form of corp driver company that one could pay by the hour?

Thanks for any pointers.

If you are thinking of buying a house, I would just have a realtor drive her around. If not I would call a limo company and ask how much it would be to rent a sedan/driver for a day.

Forget taxies. That would cost a fortune and take forever.

I think you could likely get an agent to drive you to rentals as well.

Maybe you could hire SteelCityRising on his day off.

If you're looking for an apartment you'd better hurry up. There are not a lot of vacancies/people moving in January. :/

Of course your odds of getting in an accident would be like 50%.

(I kid!)

Lol, I thought the same thing then also thought to myself how wrong I was for thinking it.

OP- what part of the area are you looking at? I would also ask the agent what he or she suggests.

This is true, but it does limit your options. I once had an agent from Mozart drive me to a few places.

If she's going to be looking largely in one area and/or mostly in the city, it may be possible to use public transit/walking for the most part.
