I'd think the parking wardens will be off for the day - because surely the city of Pgh acknowledges the civic holiday? Hard to write parking tickets if you're at home watching TV, eh?

Yep. I know that City offices are all closed tomorrow- along with banks and post offices. I think it's pretty safe to say that they won't be ticketing meters on MLK Day.

I don't know, I'd err on the side of caution on anything that creates revenue for the city.

yeah, the thing is, when i was googling for information, i couldn't find a pittsburgh-specific list of holidays when meters are not enforced, but i found quite a few cities where city offices were closed but meters were still being ticketed.

This. Perhaps the meter readers will get time and a 1/2 for working a holiday. But many businesses are still open so there will still be tons of people downtown.

Just trying to put this in its proper perspective in the grand order of things. Exactly how much cash is at stake here if you feed the meter and nobody bothers to come around and check it?

it's not about the money, rather it's about getting a ride to work vs driving (i usually take the bus but it wouldn't get me there on time today). i just don't have that many quarters. anyway i got a ride.
