I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good gym in the southhills area. I know of LA Fitness but I am not a huge fan of theirs and I was looking for something a little more local to the greentree/mt. lebanon area so I can keep my motivation after work and not have to go far either.

Any suggestions would really help. Thank you!!

I used to go to Ballys off of Fort Couch Road when I worked in South Hills.

I go to Fitness 19 in Castle Shannon and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. This area really needs a decent health club.

The Bally near South Hills Village is now owned by LA Fitness

Hey Grapeh8,

I passed this place and it looked small from the outside. How come you don't like it because that was going to be one of my choices?? Let me know

The positive is it is cheap, however you get what you pay for.

Most of the times it is overcrowded, and they only have a very limited amount of equipment. During the evening hours you might have to wait 20 - 30 minutes for a treadmill.

It is always dirty, I understand it's a gym but it is by far one of the filthiest I have been too.

The majority of the equipment is older and was never the top of the line stuff to begin with. Most of the personal viewing screens are broke and they don't really ever bring in new equipment.

They have a kids center there, however you do have parents that just let their kids run wild through the place. I would think you should never allow children to play on treadmills or ellipticals but it seems to be the norm here.
