Can anyone tell me where I can find information on raising bees and chickens in the area? I am in baldwin and looked through the borough code but didn't see anything. I definitely want to start a bee hive and I am just curious about the chickens as well.

Thanks for the info! I find it funny that I need a six foot fence for bees. I assume to keep kids away but I cant help imagine a bee being stuck inside the fence.

This use also permits the housing of three chickens where there is a minimum lot size of 2,000 square feet, and permits an additional chicken for each additional 1,000 square feet.

They must be expecting some pretty big chickens...

I know its definitely legal to raise chickens in the city, I was over at the Carnegie Library a month or so ago, and some folks were coming into the library with live chickens to give a talk on it.

They wouldn't have held a talk on it, if it wasn't legal.

If there is nothing explicitly written in the Borough code, then I would check to see if there are any ordinances enacted on this topic in Baldwin. If there aren't, then you're probably fine as long as you don't have complaints. Most boroughs live and let live as long as there aren't a bunch of complaints.

Chickens - probably fine - roosters are asking for trouble.

Want info on bees - contact the experts at Burgh Bees (Burgh Bees | Urban Beekeeping At Its Best!)

Have fun and good luck!
