Kittanning is a pit, DuBois is a nothing, Indiana is GREAT if you want a bar full of fratboys.... but otherwise not really much for shops. And thus, a poor comparison to Pittsburgh.

If alcohol is banned, that sure didn't stop people from drinking. There is a big "Family Section" sign to provide a more wholesome atmosphere for children without hindering the enjoyment of others. A wood railing separates the two sections.

Yeah, I didn't think the ban would last long.

Of course they're no comparison to Pittsburgh. But Kittanning has empty storefronts and Punxsutawney doesn't. The opposite could have happened but didn't. There are many dead towns throughout the rural regions. Many have nothing surrounding them either yet they have empty storefronts. Punxsutawney is different in that regard. It's notable. Just becuase you hate it doesn't mean it's not worthy of mention.

For what it is worth, I agree that it is noteworthy when any small non-university town in Central PA doesn't have a good amount of empty storefronts.
