I'm moving to Pittsburgh for work&school in less about 8 days and I need to find an apartment ASAP. From the research I've done it seems like Oakland, Shadyside and Squirrel Hill are the closest to CMU but it's still a 30 to 60 minutes commute (according to HopStop). Also, there are a lot of mixed reviews on apartments' reviews and It makes it hard to know which buildings are generally clean/good management/etc.Can you suggest places much closer with relatively good accomodations?

Check out the apartments along Beacon and Hobart in Squirrel Hill, west of Murray just on the other side of Schenley Park. A lot of large apartment buildings in that part of Squirrel Hill.

Its a walk through the park to get to Frew St. and Tech St. where the CMU business school is at.

You can also look for apartments in South Oakland near the Blvd, again its just a walk through the park past Phipps Conservatory to get to Porter Hall on the CMU campus.

Neither commute is even close to 30-60 minutes.

Also, CMU does run a bus from their campus up to Negley and Centre Ave (maybe further, I don't know) all day. A lot of big apartment buildings in that area, including hi-rises.

Ummmm... CMU is IN Oakland... no 30 to 60 minute commute.
And both Shadyside and Squirrel Hill can be walked to in less than the times you researched.
