I'm a Mineo's fan, but I'll have to give Fiori's a try! Y'all have intrigued me to venture out of my East End hamlet to the South Hills, where I'll brave the fire-breathing dragons in their SUVs!

Mineo's? Did anyone of you actually read the OP?

Mineo's pizza is the exact opposite of what OP is looking for! No matter how much you love them, you can't deny that their pizza is anything close to "thin crust."

OP, I've had the type of pizza you're looking for in Italy and New York. Mineo's is NOT it.

Piccolo Forno makes wonderful gourmet pizza, and Pizza Sola is decent for a slice, but beyond that, Pittsburgh pizza is awful for the most part.

Pino's on Reynolds in Point Breeze. I must confess it's been about 7 or 8 years since I've last eaten there; hopefully they're still good.

Best recommendation so far, given the OP's liking Europizza. And though I've not been to Il Pizzaiola, I understand theirs is similar.

BTW, nobody thinks this is going to be a consensus, right? Everyone has a favorite. You just have to try some. I don't really think too many are worth traveling for, so you'll have to pick out some. Il Pizziolo is worthy of travel as it's unique in having the Vera Pizza stamp of approval for true Neapolitan pizza.

I also like Dinette in E. Liberty but I think you wouldn't find that ultramodern space to be comfy as a family. Plus pricey. Very fresh stuff though, interesting combinations on the pizza.

I find City Oven to be pretty good but I don't think I would elevate it into somewhere to travel to far to get there. I haven't been to the Banksville Rd location but that is the original anyway and closer. Not sure if the Wexford one is still open.

Piccolo Forno should be good, I just still haven't tried that place.

When you're near home, just go to that Rick's place you already like and don't get shrooms. Never been a fan of mushrooms on pizza anyway.

Agreed, Pittsburgh just doesn't have very good pizza. Piccolo Forno is probably the best bet in Pittsburgh if you reed the OP's description. Pizza Sola in East Liberty you can sit and eat. It is the closest to a NY pizza with less taste. They tend to undercook the pizza like Mineo's does as well. If you order the pizza well done at Sola it is better, but still isn't all that anymore. They expanded and it went down hill because it isn't very consistent. Someone suggested Vincent's Pizza Park on Ardmore Blvd. This pizza is one to try at least once, if you are going to be a Pittsburgher. It is a thin crust pizza with lots of toppings and a big rim. If you like sausage and grease, that might be one of the toppings to get. It is the greasiest pizza in town if you get a meat on it. That is what I do.
