I have no insurance (no job!) either, so I'm very happy for you and your new job...congratulations! No recommendations for docs, tho.

Congrats on the new job. IMO you should choose a PCP who can cope with your minor case of hemorrhoids - you shouldn't need a specialist unless it's a really serious/advanced case that isn't resolving with standard treatment. Fully agree with Fleetie - eat more fiber, drink more water.

It's a great experience. Also, they send email reminders when it's time to schedule an appointment. I haven't missed a check up since I started seeing Dr. Dan.

I'll 2nd your recommendation of Dr. Dan. Honestly the biggest reason I like him is because I can walk to his office, but it's not all that far from Polish Hill either. I do have a feeling that SCR would prefer to visit a dentist in an old Allegheny West building than in some office park, though.

He also holds evening hours, which should help you greatly now that you have a "9-5".

For a dermatologist, I'd recommend Dr. Jeffrey Weaver or Dr. Carol Roper in Monroeville.

There is no such thing referred to as a "proctologist" in medicine. Your PCP should be able to manage your hemorrhoids; if a specialty referral is indicated, you would likely see a general or colorectal surgeon or a gastroenterologist.

Really? I've never known a 25 year old who had PCP. At that age, who needs one?

If you want to be pedantic about it, those specialists you mention are referred to as proctologists, probably by the majority laypeople...
