Article:

Braddock library given 'historic' designation

It is well-deserved, and a great building:

Edit: Here is the nomination:

As noted in the article and the nomination, the big hook is that it was the first of Carnegie's many libraries in the United States.

That is one of the most historic libraries in the country probably. That place is the only bright spot in Braddock unfortunately.

Not true! There are lots of cool old buildings in Braddock, some of them well-preserved:

By the way, this map I previously created a thread for has really emphasized to me that Braddock just isn't that far away:

Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions

Extend the East Busway through Braddock to Monroeville and develop the Carrie Furnace site, and I could really see Braddock take off.

Braddock (and most of the other eastern suburbs) are very convenient to the East End, although much less convenient to downtown and other parts of town.

That's where the East Busway could come in--Braddock to Penn Station would be about a 25 minute trip, less if you skipped some stations.

Are we even going to have a bus system, come September?

That could be a hiccup.

There are some neat places in your video, but there are many places significantly better than Braddock and it's in a location that isn't exactly convenient to other major regional destinations (besides Kennywood and the Waterfront). Not 'hating' just saying.
