When Gov Corbett took office, I emailed him and said that I have a proposal. The proposal was this: Everyone in Allegheny, Butler, and Warshington Counties should immediately have their license suspended. All citizens must pass an IQ test before they can even apply for a new licenese. An aid replied back to me and said "thank you for your email, the Governor appreciates and enjoyed your sense of humor". I replied back and said "thank you for your reply, but I'm not kidding".

If in a hurry, conflict occurs. If no hurry and you don't care what time you get there, no conflict. It really is that simple. I used to cut people off really bad if they were in the left lane going slow, but now I just pass them on the right and keep driving. I figure there IQ is too low and there is really nothing to gain. You aren't going to teach them how to drive. They just wouldn't understand. There are huge signs on the Turnpike saying, Slower traffic keep right or passing on right or whatever it is, but they probably can't read. Life is too short and you can't educate everyone. They just don't have it.

Pretty funny! The dedication there is pretty interesting. Presumably that person sets a camera up on the dash (iPhone, Flip, whatever) and films a fair bit of their driving. Then you have to watch all that and piece it together. Takes some work, fun maybe for them, but still serious work. And there are at least 4 videos so far looks like, one each month.

Edit: Oops he says it's a QuickCam connected to a laptop! Doesn't seem like a great idea but hey. Maybe that allows for the high mounting (he says it's behind the mirror) a little easier.

This. The example above is why Pittsburgh drivers are also considered courteous. In some cities you might get "run" out of the left lane for digging in your nose and driving 45 mph. In more civilized parts people will just go around the boob and hope that seven cars passing them on the right gives them the hint.

It wouldn't be so bad if I only encountered it once in a while, but it's every day, every where you go in this area.

Honestly, I think you're reaching a bit with that video. It's trying too hard. As someone that moved here from Orlando, home of the most aggressive drivers ever, the actions in that video barely register on my moron meter. And the only thing that would qualify as "aggressive" is the guy passing on the double yellow line. Maybe if the guy filming wasn't poking along at 28mph he probably wouldn't have been passed. Pittsburghers are very timid behind the wheel, not aggressive. They also can be very courteous...to a fault. They create their own traffic jams by not being aggessive enough.

I've said it before, but I still think people need to be retested for driving skills every so often. It's not just an annoyance, it's a safety and liability issue.

And maybe it's just because I'm mostly in the city, where the cops are spread thin, but I'd love to see more people get pulled over for running red lights, speeding, tailgating, etc. If there were consequences to their bad driving it might make a difference.

Let it go. It used to be a pet peeve of mine to see some idiot in the left lane not passing, but we will NEVER educate them. They don't understand. In a way, it is PA's fault more than the drivers. They should enforce the law that states you shouldn't pass on the right and if you are not passing move to the right, but you can drive 45 in the left and no cop will care. You could write a ticket for impeding traffic, because other drivers aren't allowed to pass on the right, but they won't.

Like I said, just pass on the right, chuckle at the stupidity and forget about them. They don't get it and never will.

It is everyday in the entire US. Just the way it is. Sure, it would be great if we were more educated and were more like NORTHERN Europe when driving, but we won't have that. Unless the government starts enforcing a law that requires drivers to move over. It would be safer if it was like that.

There's several videos to check out on that account.

Somehow the timid Pittsburgh driver stereotype is still in the mind of people despite proof otherwise. Oh well.
