and/or multiple generations not learning how to drive a manual / stick / straight-drive, which would make it much harder to ride the brake, lol. My grandfather made my mother learn how to operate a bulldozer and park a school bus before she could get a learner's permit for the car. If he'd owned a gantry crane, I'm sure that would have been part of the student-driver prerequisite training, too.

But perhaps it *is* political leanings, after all. Most of the family is registered Republican.
