I definitely think Pittsburgh drivers are more law abiding than in many other places. In the South speeding and blatantly running red lights is commonplace.

I personally think Pittsburgh drivers are some of the best in the US. I also personally feel most drivers in the US are horrible drivers. So I guess I feel Pittsburgh has the best of the worst drivers in the world. Overall, I am happy to be in a place where most drivers are pretty polite in comparison to most of the East. Glad I live here.

Any speed is better than riding your brakes or chopping your brakes on and off while approaching the highway and then coming to a virtual stop at the end of the ramp. No matter how short, there's no need for that.

Yeah, we are lucky! Go to NJ or DC and discover how lucky we are.

I guess you've been away for a while. Red light running and stop sign ignoring is everywhere in the city

Ha. I wish. I encounter it almost daily on 79 with a long straight ramp. Plenty of room to get up to 65 but they insist on capping the acceleration at 45 until they get onto the 65 mph highway.

Pretty commonplace here too. I've been told by someone who hasn't lived here for 20 years that we're particularly bad about pushing lights.

Very few driving complaints are truly Pittsburgh-centric, though. We've been through this before.

I think the tunnel thing is pretty unique to Pittsburgh. But I've only got NYC and Boston to compare it to. They don't slow down for tunnels there.

As an aside, when I was living in Mexico City, it was not at all uncommon to make a left turn off a stop light from any lane, not just the left-most. Now that was fun stuff.

Personally, I don't give way for the Pittsburgh left thing unless my Pittsburgh-native wife is in the car.

Things that drive my wife and I nuts (compared to drivers in Washington/Oregon.)

1. People throw cigarettes out the window all the time.
2. People flash their brights at us to let me know they are letting me go first. Especially at night.

I also think that Pittsburgh drivers are among the best in the country.
If you want bad, try driving in Missouri or the Boston Area.
