I guess they went the wrong way on the Ft. Pitt Bridge? Maybe via Liberty Avenue?

In regards to the Ft. Pitt Tunnel ordeal, maybe I'm wrong, but I swear Greater Pittsburgh has some of the worst drivers with the lowest intellect of the road. I know it can be challenging to figure out where things go around here, but seriously, I feel like some of these people are just moronic...and I encounter a lot of it.

Driving/parking related...last night, my entire street was free and clear of vehicles, not one parked on either side of the road down near my house. As I got home, a car was parked right, directly in front of my driveway. I called my roommate and asked if we had company...she said no. So I parked, got out and was "inspecting" the car. I've never seen it before. I honked a few times, thinking the owner was nearby. Nope. Upon walking around the vehicle, I notice a parking ticket on the interior from earlier today...clue 1 this person may be stupid. So I called a towing company. They told me to call Zone 3 Police. Zone 3 says call 911 because that's considered an emergency. JUST as I was about to call 911 two "dudes" walk out of the townhouse up the street and start walking toward me.

Me: Is this yours?
Dude 1: Yeah man...
Me: You realize you're blocking my driveway and the entire street is free and clear for parking.
Dude 1: Ahh, man, sorry dude, I was debating whether or not that was a driveway.
(Did you think it was a time capsule or something?)
Me: You're just in time, I was about to have you towed.
Dude 2: Ohh that would have sucked this is a rental too man.
Me: Well, looks like time is on your side with this one.

HOW can someone be SO stupid? I don't care where you're from, what your excuse is, you're just an idiot! Especially since the entire lower half of the street was fair game for parking! Not to mention after they left, they SPED off to the next stop sign and slammed on the breaks like asses. Guaranteed if you put those two same "dudes" on the Parkway, they'd use their break pedal like they had a nervous tick of the foot! GAH!

About a year ago, I came home and experienced the same thing. Even better though, the garage was on private property and there was no reason to be parking there in the first place. So I came up the driveway and pulled up to the car to find some old man and his wife sitting in the car.

Old man: "I'm sorry sir, I'll only be five more minutes"

Me: "no, I've been at work all day and you'll move right now, you shouldn't be here in the first place."

Old man: " what the hell is your problem?"

Me: "my problem is some old man who decided to to park, of all places, in front of my garage, when this isn't a parking lot by any means."

By this time, the old man's daughter and oversized fiance came out and the daughter was yelling for the old man to get out of the way, and her fiance, Beppo the oversized clown was foaming at the mouth. The old man kept shooting his mouth at me and I said, "how about this, how about I follow you home and park directly in front of your garage?"

So today, I'm getting onto the Parkway right before the Ft. Pitt Bridge (Stanwix entrance). I've got my signal on, checking the passenger rearview mirror, waiting for the left lane to clear. It does, I accelerate and a guy in the right hand lane changes lanes right into me. Luckily I stopped quickly, but it was pretty close - and luckily the guy behind me didn't rear end me.

Who does that?

Went to merge onto 376 Eastbound from the Bates onramp this morning, come up from under the bridge and have to slam on my brakes becuase there is a line of cars waiting because someone was too pansy to merge onto the freeway and was now waiting for a half mile gap in traffic to merge on.

People were gradually merging onto the freeway from behind this person off the onramp becuase they had unrealistic expectations.

I spent the past week driving around the Midwest and was greeted with friendly drivers. As soon as I came back home I was met with aggressive driving, getting cut off, and dudes speeding.

When you put both experiences side by side like that it really shows that the whole "friendly Pittsburgh driver" stereotype is long dead.

I would agree that the Pittsburgh drivers have changed and are leaning more towards the eastern style, but we aren't as bad as DC and NYC metro. We are in-between now. I do miss the old days that drivers would wave at you when letting them in and were more courteous , but as you can see many complain about kindness at intersections when a driver will wave another driver to go first. How can anyone complain about that? Odd. Then there is the "Merge Here, Take your turn" signs that back in the day would be no problem, but if you try to take your turn now and are met with an SUV or Pickup, good luck "taking your turn". Talk about aggressive! Ah well, it is what it is. Still not as bad as DC or NYC region.

Yeah, pretty much my thoughts exactly. I hope we never reach the level of Boston drivers.
