PHLF vies for vacant Wood Street properties - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

I don't really care about the retail plan, although boutique women's clothing is one of the few retail industries doing well these days.

I'm mostly just excited about the idea of the PHLF restoring all these buildings on this block of Wood, and also a bit for the upper-floor apartments:

Quote:
Arthur Ziegler, Pittsburgh History and Landmarks president, said the proposed purchases are part of the foundation's plan to create a women's fashion area. . . . Mr. Ziegler said he would like to put women's retail in the two buildings, with apartments above. The area in question is "one of the most intact architecturally significant blocks" in the city, he said. . . . The properties are the last in the city with unrestored cast iron facades, he said. As part of the purchases, the foundation intends to refurbish both.
I completely agree about that block--it is really quite amazing when you look past the current condition of the buildings. Anyway, here are the buildings (between the corner building and the "Prime Gear" building):

If only this was Pittsburg, California since the location of that building would be perfect for an alternative medicine horticulture depository.
