I know that you can get your car inspected two months in advance of your inspection and emissions stickers expiring, but do you "lose" those months?

For example, if my inspection and emissions stickers expire in June, and I go ahead and get my inspection performed in May, will they replace my old stickers with new "May" stickers or new "June" stickers?

No. They'll do 12 months from the existing sticker. New cars (first inspection) get 11 months IIRC).

If you have June stickers, you can get the inspection done starting April 1 and still get June stickers again. Also, if you're late and into July, you'll still get June stickers. If you tried to get it earlier than April, you could do that in theory (not sure why you'd want to), but then they would adjust the stickers to an earlier month.

If your car's in good shape it's handy to get it done early in case something breaks. If it's not in good shape, well, you have until the end of the month on the sticker to get it fixed.

Random question; if the inspection sticker on a vehicle registered in Pennsylvania has been expired for over a year; upon getting the inspection done can the 2-month ahead window sticker still apply?
Example: If inspected in March could the vehicle get a May sticker placed on the window?

You get a sticker for one year, if it is due in may but you didn't take it in until October, you get an October sticker. But if you go in early you get a year from when the previous sticker is. I have a truck that sits alot, that is how they do it for me.

umm. 2 years ago, I had stickers that expired in May, so I got my inspection done April 30. The shop gave me April stickers & refused to give me May stickers even though it was only 1 day off.

After several calls/emails to PennDOT, they gave me the same answer. The only way to get the stickers in advance is if your registration and inspection expiration dates match.

I learned that PA penalizes being proactive, & rewards laziness. Now when my inspection is due on June, i get it done July 1st..

I got my vehicle serviced late November 2016, and (while it was there anyway) they inspected it and gave me my usual January sticker.
I am good through Jan 2018.
