I'm a nurse, and would like to address scrubs: if you are not required to wear facility issued scrubs, you have control over the number of wrinkles, sizing, and colors. Just because you can purchase lime green scrubs does not mean that it is a good idea.

Since the world has gotten more casual, the minimum is neat, clean, and well fitting; if you choose to dress in a suit, more power to you.

BAHAHAHAHAHAH @ ebyrnes... that seriously made my day. "just because you can...doesn't mean you should"

ha! Seriously.

Pittsburgh is rather frumpy, but it could be worse. At least I'm kept entertained, watching the show and/or parade go past my office all day. What a variety! It keeps the workday interesting.

edit to add:

Can we just eliminate pleated pants from history? They're flattering to no one. No. One. I'd almost rather see sweatpants than pleats. They're awful!

Inquiring minds want to know why some nurses buy scrubs with cats and dogs all over them?!?!?! They should dress like adults.

Almost all of the patterned scrubs look hideous. I can't understand why the manufacturers don't make more appealing scrubs.

Solid would be better, even lime green would be better.

Those are specifically made for children's nurses.... the puppies and kitties and pictures ar supposed to keep the kiddies distracted while they get their shots....

But they've filtered into regular scrub wear.

My work look is a pocket t and jeans.... it doesn't look good on me, but the pocket t is great for keeping my phone in (I have a safety chain hoked to hte pocket). With my slight hearing loss, when I am vacuuming, I won't hear the phone in my pants pocket.

First thing that happens at home -- pocket t comes off.... into a regular shirt -- polo usually.

Why do people that wear these hideous scrubs always wear Crocs too? Did you not think you looked bad enough, so you had to throw on the ugliest shoes ever made too?

When I saw the thread topic I thought this was about people stealng umbrellas rather than paying for them.

Last weekend when I was in Pittsburgh I forgot mine. I went into CVS and they were behind the counter. What's up with that? Is this a problem or just an isolated incident of one CVS doing this?

Sorry to go off topic but I am curious.

I would say an isolated incident. I've never seen that anywhere.

Most likely. Maybe that particular store has a lot of shoplifters.

My wife will not be caught dead in scrubs or crocks. She changes when she arrives and leaves work. This includes makeup and jewlery. Her mother was a VA RN up until the late 90's. She never wore scrubs. Only wore the traditional nurse skirt outfit.lol....
