What the OP thinks are"WASPS", and a "lack of diversity", is typical of some people from parts of Northern NJ and the NYC metro area.
There are probably noticing that Italians are not the dominant European ethnic group, and are mistaking Eastern and Central Europeans, who are generally more fair, for WASPS.

I think there is a more balanced mix here in PA. I'm not Italian so I might not miss the dominance of one culture or the supposed perfection of NY NJ Pizza ver all others. And there are other ethnic foods available here in PA that I could only get at my Grandmothers.

He needs more time away from Jersey, IMO.
Great post Sheena. The funny thing about it, is that Pittsburgh is overwhelmingly German and Irish. Eastern Europeans tend to stand out, because they are relatively uncommon outside of a handful of cities (Balt, Cleve, Chicago, Det, Buff). Italians are 11% of Pittsburgh, which is actually fairly high.

Agreed completely. Maybe he'll take this as a wake-up call and use the rest of his time in Pittsburgh more productively. But I somehow doubt it.

Thankfully you have lots of people needing to exit the state everyday to NY & PA for their jobs giving you one area to gloat about because really there's not much else available to rub in anyone's face

These are meaningless statistics. Put it on a per capita basis and then you have something to at least discuss.

"Gaulish Catholics"......I like that. Let's not forget, Pittsburgh was founded as Ft. Duquesne, NOT Ft.Pitt. And I say this as a lifelong anglophile.

No kidding. Guess we are now competing with the NYC Metro area and part of Philly too. Pittsburgh must be very impressive to be able to do that. I mean our population is pretty close, right. Goodness, how silly.

Actually, Pittsburgh was founded as Ft. Prince George. By no less than George Washington.
