Three related articles:

Pittsburgh's new immigrants equal brain gain - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Next Page / At home in Pittsburgh: Three immigrant stories - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Polyglot South Hills is home to many of Pittsburgh's new immigrants - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Too much to summarize comprehensively, but as we have discussed before, our immigrants tend to be highly educated, skilled, and/or entrepreneurial. And with our labor markets providing more jobs in recent years than the national average, we are starting to attract more second-wave immigrants. All of which is good news.

As an immigrant myself, I can totally identify with all the people mentioned in the articles about their life in the states. We came here 26 years ago and did the two job thing, did the sleeping on the living room floor, worked hard, went to college, started a business (just sold it), saved money and saved money.
The reason why we work so hard is that we remember how it was when we came here first and have aboslutely no ambition to go back there. Thats why successful immigrants get ahead. Also we stayed out of the bars.
Its a wonderful country.

My story is almost identical with Dorothy's only I came here 19 years ago. I am also Caucasian. What's the diversity index and why don't we count?

Also the difference between the immigrants in the story is that they are legal and do not get on the system like many do here on Long Island. I know it sounds like I am anti immigrant ; I absolutely am not, but I am not for immigrants who bleed the system dry.
I think its wonderful to have hard working immigrants ; they show the rest of the population that it can be done.

I'm pretty sure he was joking and making fun of people who think all immigrants now aren't white.
