HGTV show My First Place is apparently going to shoot here. So much of what goes on that channel is shot in NY or LA areas so this should be interesting. Here's the info:

We're looking for Fun People in Nashville and Pittsburgh Who Are Buying Their First Home! : About Us : Home & Garden Television (http://www.hgtv.com/about-us/were-looking-for-fun-people-in-nashville-and-pittsburgh-who-are-buying-their-first-home/index.html - broken link)

I would love to see this. It would be cool to see the interiors of a few Pittsburgh homes. Even better if they add a few shots of local neighborhoods.

Also, it's nice to see at least one station recognizing that houses look different in cities that aren't near Los Angeles. I just watched an episode of The Office the other night where they hold a fun run that was supposed to be in Scranton. Give me a break! Houses in PA don't look anything like what they ran by. It'll be great to see REAL Pennsylvania houses on this show.

It would be even cooler to see one of our forum posters on this show. C'mon, one of you guys who is buying a house anyway needs to apply for this.

This a great. They have had Pittsburgh homes on in the past though. One ' Bang for Your Buck" Video : Pittsburgh Master Bathrooms : Home & Garden Television

And I know I saw another show I think it was "What You Get for the Money" with a couple from Mt. Lebanon.

There was a " What You Can Get For Your Money" done in Bellevue about 4 years ago. They did show footage of Bellevue's main street, school, park and library as well as downtown Pittsburgh.

If anyone reading this winds up on the show, please think of something to say besides:

-Is THIS the master?
-It's a little small.
-No stainless!?
-This is nice.

How about -"Oh, I don't like that paint color."

I want to punch my TV when I hear people say that on these house buying shows.

How about "They're NOT granite?!"

Come on, you know they're still gonna find the first-time homebuyers who are spending $300k or something.

Yeah, the paint reactions are ridiculous right? But that's why staging the house actually works. People totally react to the crap (or lovely decor) in it even though it's not going to be staying.

yeah those shows always seem to hit:

1) Toronto
2) NYC
3) SoCal
4) Wash/Bal/Philly
5) Atlanta

Sprinkle in a few shows about Austin, Nashville, Raleigh, Dallas, random AZ, and that's their show basically. It's nice to see something slightly different for a chance.
