If Pittsburgh is trying to promote its new and improved image, then having Megabus riders see a jail first thing upon arrival would not have been ideal. Maybe the powers-that-be thought of that, too.

True, although it is a very attractive jail.

As someone had initially suggested, it appears the new stop for Megabus will be Gateway Center

I wonder what private property they claim is being taken.

The link above was updated. The stop will now stay at the convention center.

What are anyone's thoughts on having the Megabus stop at Station Square? Access to the T and still quick access to both the Parkway East and West. I'm not sure how full all the parking lots get there or how bad traffic is getting onto the highways from across the river at peak times, but in my mind it seems like it could work.

Maybe the City should install another pay toilet in the area. It's a nod to toward tourists, if the City wants to try and feel tourists feel welcome rather than harass them. It would be nice for locals, too, who happen to be out and need a place to go...many small businesses won't let even paying customers use their facilities. Several states require that people with certain medical conditions receive access to "employee only" facilities, but I am not sure Pennsylvania is one of them. ...although, it could have been signed into law and just not very well reported (the protective/enabling laws and enforcement usually take a back seat to the anarcho-tyrannistic ones favored by the bureaucracy).

I've encountered truly "public restrooms" in Portland, ME, and have seen pay toilets in Boston. In fact, throughout New England I've seen less resistance to letting people use restroom facilities as needed. Too many junkies in Pittsburgh or too parochial around here? Both?

Megabus' status as a for-profit business is noted so I see some irony here, but I give them a pass because their transportation service can be so cheap and useful that it shames some of the other options and highlights the general neglect that citizens show toward supporting public transit.
