Yeah, most wouldn't appreciate the old furniture and such. Most like the new look Chinese stuff they slap in rooms these days. Ah well, it is what it is. Loved the old great rooms they had. At least they still have the ballroom and the wonderful first floor. Nothing beats that.

It has nothing to do with the furniture. I love antiques. It's the better location, larger rooms, more and larger windows in the rooms, great views, more sunlight, etc. I've stayed in every hotel Downtown, except the new one. I felt clausterphobic in the William Penn rooms. Renovation won't matter to me unless they merge rooms to make them bigger, and do something about the windows---there just isn't much natural light because the windows are smaller and minimal. Just look at the difference between the windows of the two buildings.

The Hampton Inn in the Cultural District on Smallman is quite nice, my parents stay there when they visit. They have a shuttle, and you can walk up to the Strip/Downtown/wherever. Near the bus depot as well.

Yep, if that wasn't on the OP's Downtown list it definitely should be. The Heinz History Museum across the street is also very much worth a visit.
