Won't come close to 1909's .724, or 1902's insane .741.
Well, if Nutting would have paid up the Bucs would have been able to match 1902 or 1909 and ran away from the 100 win Cards even though such a record is unprecedented in the modern era of baseball other than the 116 wins for Seattle (.716) in 2001. The Yankees also came close in 1998 with 114 wins (.702).

Kudos to the Milwaukee Brewers for coming back in the 9th inning today against Trevor Rosenthal to beat the Cards. They split the series in SL and that's all one can ask for a team playing out the string. Even if Arietta works his magic tonight, the Pirates will be no more than three games back Monday at PNC Park for the showdown. The odds are still against the Pirates, but they are better than a week ago.

Yep. How many championships do the Cards have? When was their last? Why do you want low Bucs payroll?

I don't want a low payroll and would like to add a pitcher or two in the off season. I am just enjoying the ride right now as it is almost Buctober. Let's worry about finances in six weeks or more.

They'll have no choice but to add pitchers. Price would've been a great pickup. You wanna be ahead of the Cards, you pay for pitchers like Price.

Love the Brewers I might try and watch the tonight, as the Bucs have a very very slight opening here. It's highly unlikely but it adds a tad of excitement to the last few games.

Who will the Bucs start with in the WC game?

Unless he gets injured, Cole starts the WC game.

16 guys left on base in 9 innings and zero runs. The Cards left 2 on and scored 3 runs. We just could not get that big hit. It might be time to start gearing up for a game next Wednesday. Also, say a prayer for Piscotti.
