Just walked back from the game. Lot of fun, looked like a sell-out and the Pirates are playing a nice game of baseball. And they have Victory Hop Devil on tap, much better than IC Light.

The $1 water you can buy before crossing the Clemente Bridge is better than IC Light.

In all seriousness, it's been so long since most people got emotionally involved with the Bucs that the level of baseball knowledge is pretty poor if you read the Pirates fan forums and other MLB sites. Most fans think making ridiculously one-side trades is as easy as playing fantasy baseball with your 7-year old brother.

This isn't football. It's a long season. Since the 162 game season starter, there's never been an undefeated MLB champion (best was 116-46) nor has there been a team worse than .250. People freak out over every loss. There are going to be at least 43 more losses at the current 87-win pace.

Another year of maturity for the younger pitchers and the addition of AJ makes it less likely we'll see a complete collapse. Bucs are helped by injuries to the Cards and a lackluster NL Central, but they have beaten some quality teams and pitchers so it's not a complete mirage. Still, it's not a real good team, 29th in runs and last in on-base percentage.

Enjoy the progress. Hopefully it results in an end to the 19 year streak. And maybe more.

Wouldn't you rather go to a country or classic rock concert? You're from Pittsburgh! Besides, the concert promoters know better than you what music you'd rather listen to!

Modest Mouse has been around for 15 years, they are a classic rock band by this time.

I agree that to do so today would make it something of an urban anomaly but not impossibly so. It is impossible however, by definition, for there to be suburbs without an urban component.

That being said, let's go Bucs, although I'll be at Modest Mouse tonight.
Actually, the "City" annexed some burbs; Manchester (N. Side); Birmingham (S. Side), and there have long been the "streetcar suburbs".

I'll see the Bucs at Coors Field in July. Can't wait!

So much for Tiger optimism.

Pittsburgh didn't annex Manchester, Allegheny did.
