Depends what you order. You can eat at McDonalds for a few bucks if you eat off the dollar menu and drink tap water. I don't like pop anyway. I go to fast food maybe once every three months or something like that. I sometimes want a Big Mac and fries, but I can't remember the last time I had one.

I want to mention another deal at Patron Mexican Grill. Mondays is .95 taco night. They are okay. Beer is 1.00 off I think.

I just remembered another Shady Grove deal...I think it's Tuesday is Taco night. $1.00 for a chicken or beef taco, and $3 mexican beers. Not your microbrew IPA, but still better offerings than BL or CL (ick).

Thank you for this thread. I complain every now and again to my bf about how ridiculous eating out can be in town sometimes. It seems almost no one downtown does happy hour specials (though I did recently discover Sharp Edge's happy hour, but boy, is it hard as hell to get to during that time!). I honestly like hitting Local on the south side ($14 bottomless mimosas on the weekends!), but the music they play is hard on my ears lol. Their foods not bad and neither is their beer selection, and I can usually find good parking. I seconded Kaya's happy hour, if you're just looking for drinks.

I always enjoyed Max's for good, reasonably priced food and drink in a low-key atmosphere.

I agree and they have drink specials everynight, and .50 wings on Wednesday.

Penn Brewery, at least for the summer, has a deal on Thursdays in their courtyard where you can get $5 brats and $3 Penn brews.

And, since it's outdoors, there are no TVs in that area....

Yeah, it's not grocery store cheap to eat out unless you find a special somewhere, and of course restaurants use the cheap specials to bring bodies in the door and hope they go on purchase something with a better margin as well, or else aim for scale and big crowds.

If we could only work the cooks and dishwashers at $2.50/hr. + tip jar then maybe we'd be able to pay even less and really be in business.
