Hi all,

I bought a house not too long ago in the city (with a bunch of help and guidance from everyone here; thanks for that!). Shortly after closing I received a "Sales Verification Form" in the mail from Allegheny County asking a bunch of questions about my mortgage, home price, home features, how long it was on the market, if I think the value is worth it, etc. Obviously this is going to be used to help adjust my property assessment.

I've asked a bunch of people at work and everyone seems mixed feelings about returning it. Some people said they refused to send it back, and other people are just "eh" about it. Of course it's inevitable my taxes are going up from the previous owner, but is there any positives/negatives of filling it out and returning it vs not? If anything I see it as a chance to complain about some things I didnt know about when I bought my house (nothing major, just some repairs that need done here and there, and that I think it was slightly inflated because of a bidding war). At the same I feel not sending it in could probably buy me a couple more months or something (who knows ).

Anyone just do this? Any experiences either way? Does it just not even matter?

Thanks!

Verify that the info the county has: room count, square footage, lot size, etc. is accurate.

Your assessment may not go up at all with the county/twp, but the school district is another matter.

You may want to consider waiting until they send you a second or even third notice. Good luck...
